The Smile Score

A complete functional and aesthetic analysis of your smile

A beautiful smile is not just about straight teeth. At Mon Orthodontiste, we analyze your smile as a whole: the face, the lips, the tooth display, the gums, the bite and the overall harmony.

Our Smile Score is an aesthetic diagnostic method that allows us to evaluate the essential elements of a balanced, natural and lasting smile. Inspired by the best approaches in modern aesthetic orthodontics, this analysis helps us design a personalized, precise treatment plan that is consistent with your face.

What makes our analysis more advanced

Unlike a simple static evaluation, our approach is inspired by modern dentofacial aesthetics and takes into account three dimensions:

Macro-aesthetics - ideal facial proportions

Macro-aesthetics

The face as a whole: proportions, profile, lip support, symmetry. Facial harmony guides every treatment decision.

Mini-aesthetics - smile and lip analysis

Mini-aesthetics

The smile itself: smile width, incisor display, lip mobility, smile arc, visible gingiva.

Micro-aesthetics - ideal dental proportions

Micro-aesthetics

The dental details: shape, proportions, contours, texture, embrasures, gingival harmony.

A smile designed in its entirety

Our Smile Score evaluates your smile across 10 precise diagnostic criteria, taking into account three dimensions: the face, the smile and the teeth.

During your consultation, Dr Benguira methodically analyzes every facet of your smile to determine exactly where to intervene and how to optimize your result.

What we evaluate

1 Structure

Facial profile and lip support

We analyze jaw position, facial profile and soft tissue support. A good orthodontic treatment should not only align teeth, but also contribute to a harmonious profile, better lip support and, in some cases, improved respiratory function.

2 Alignment

Alignment and contact points

We verify that teeth are properly aligned, without crowding or unwanted spaces. Good alignment improves not only aesthetics, but also hygiene, stability and long-term gingival health.

3 Aesthetics

Smile width

We evaluate whether the smile fills the space between the lip commissures properly. A smile that is too narrow can give an impression of lack of facial support, while a wider smile often appears younger, more balanced and brighter.

4 Harmony

Smile arc

The smile arc corresponds to the relationship between the edge of the upper teeth and the curvature of the lower lip. A harmonious smile arc produces a more dynamic, natural and aesthetic result. It is a major element of the modern smile.

5 Display

Vertical position of upper teeth

We evaluate how much of the upper incisors are visible at rest and when smiling. The goal is not just to have straight teeth, but to show the right amount of teeth, with a display adapted to the age, face and lip mobility.

6 Symmetry

Midlines

We verify the alignment of dental midlines with the centre of the face. Consistent midlines reinforce the symmetry and integration of the smile within the face.

7 Function

Occlusion and function

A beautiful smile must also function well. We analyze vertical and horizontal overlap, contacts between teeth and overall functional balance in order to reduce the risk of wear, fractures, instability or joint discomfort.

8 Proportion

Tooth shape and proportions

We evaluate the height, width, symmetry and proportions of the teeth visible when smiling. Well-proportioned teeth reflect light better, appear more elegant and strongly contribute to the "high-end" effect of the smile.

9 Gums

Gingiva: display, contours and symmetry

We analyze the amount of visible gingiva, the shape of the gingival scallops and the symmetry of the contours. Even with well-aligned teeth, excess gingival display or irregular contours can compromise the final result. The goal is to fully reveal the teeth within a balanced gingival framework.

10 Brilliance

Tooth colour and luminosity

Colour greatly influences the overall perception of the smile. We evaluate uniformity, brilliance and the potential presence of stains, opacities or discolourations in order to optimize the aesthetic finish.

A smile analysis in motion

A smile cannot be judged solely from a static photo. The importance of evaluating the smile dynamically with lip posture, facial animation and the real tooth display during smiling — is at the heart of our approach.

Dynamic smile analysis - 3D imaging
  • Face and smile photographs
  • Front and profile views
  • Evaluation of incisor display at rest and when smiling
  • Analysis of gingiva and smile arc
  • When needed, smile video to capture the real dynamics
